Game Rules
Reaction Speed Test is a web-based application designed to measure and record your reflexes through a timed clicking challenge. Each game session consists of ten rounds where a single cell will light up at random positions on a responsive grid layout. You begin by entering a nickname—no formal registration or password is required—and selecting either Standard or Hard mode. Standard mode requires only a quick click on the highlighted cell, while Hard mode introduces an additional step where you must press the displayed key (Q, W, E, or R) before clicking the cell. Each round records the latency between the appearance of the cell and your successful click or key+click combination, ensuring precise timing data for accurate results.
The game dynamically adjusts the grid dimensions based on your device's screen size and orientation: mobile devices see a smaller 5x7 or 7x5 grid, tablets a moderate 6x10 or 8x7 layout, and desktop screens display a larger 9x11 or 7x13 arrangement. In Hard mode, there is a 50% chance that key input will be required for each round, increasing the cognitive challenge in addition to raw reaction speed. A countdown timer may appear for the time-limited variant, giving you a fixed window to complete all ten clicks, while the click-count variant focuses on achieving the highest number of successful hits within a set timeframe. Both modes emphasize accuracy and speed.
After completing ten rounds, your average reaction time (in milliseconds) is calculated and displayed alongside your click count where applicable. The top 10 monthly performers for each mode and difficulty setting are showcased on the global leaderboard, which resets at the beginning of each calendar month. Leaderboard entries include your nickname, score, and additional metrics such as total clicks or average time. All session data is securely stored on the server, with no private information exposed. By following these rules and understanding the game mechanics, you can improve your reflexes, compete fairly, and track your progress over time.
